Umm, you’re still missing the point as you’re still referring to this as a “contest”. I think this minivannews article sums it up pretty well;

I reemphasize that the Postcards campaign is in no way trying or claiming to be on the level of professional photo competitions like those held by national geographic. Such a selection would not be within the nature of the competition anyways. These are pictures by normal Maldivians, of greatly varying levels of skill and equipment, of their everyday lives as seen by them. A display of 350 professional photographers would go against this and I dare say would not have been as honest.

I think the emphasis of the Campaign was more about peoples perception of their own country, than about fancy photography is most relevant and brings a human value to the photos….

hani… thats exactly the point i was trying to get to… and thats what these people missed by making a wild selection. let me just be blunt. the panel of judges were highly unqualified cos they made themselves believe that they had the capacity to be judges for such a contest. please get off your high horses and do something real or in other words go hug a tree.

@nomancamera It is important to understand that the Postcards campaign is not and never was meant to be a photo competition. The narrative as a whole is intended to show the Maldives as truly as possible, through the eyes of all Maldivians. Not necessarily just from the photographers etc with high end gear.
